The film festival is in full swing as we enter its second and final week. So far we have been treated to a fantastic array of films from a multitude of genres and styles.

The showcase continues with the final 9 films offering a variety of choice from dramas, romances, anime and comedy. There are several award winning films such as the samurai period Love and Honor and Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World.

For those who missed the wild antics from our opening night movie - or those who saw it and want to spread the word to friends - Maiko Haaaan is having an encore screening on Saturday at 4:45pm.

Finally the animated  Summer Days with Coo will close out our festival on Saturday night.

Please note: The 10:30am screening of Linda, Linda, Linda on Friday 7th Dec is sold out. The 8:45pm screening of Tokyo Tower on Thursday 6th Dec is sold out. However, Tokyo Tower will be screening again on Sat 8th at 2pm and tickets are still available for that session.

Cosplayers wanted - win prizes!

Calling all cosplayers. We are looking for your help! Saturday 1st Dec is the film festival J-Pop day and we are inviting you and your flamboyant get-ups along to promote, dance around, goof off and basically generate some fun atmosphere. There is a prize for the best dressed so don't hold back!

If you want to be involved just email event@jpf.org.au with your contact details and the character(s) that you plan to dress as. You can also send enquires to that address as well.

What is cosplay?
For those of you not in the know, cosplay is short for "costume play". Around the world, there exist some ultra-dedicated fans whose hobby is to dress up as their favourite fictional character. While western versions might choose Darth Vader, you might see Japanese cosplayers as a wild array of characters like Sadako from the Ringu movies, Momoko from last year's Kamikaze Girls, Ichigo from the Bleach manga/anime, Arisa from Fruits Basket, Kasumi from the Dead or Alive video games...
