Japan during the Taisho Era (1912-1926) faced dramatic change, as traditional values mixed with Western ideas. Spring Snow is a tragedy set in this period, between two aristocratic families struggling to find their place in the new society. Satoko, daughter of a noble family that has fallen on hard times, meets Kiyoaki, the son of a nouveau-riche samurai family. Both are deeply in love with one another, but Kiyoakifs pride prevents them from being together. It is only when Satoko accepts a marriage proposal from the Imperial family that Kiyoaki realises he will lose Satoko forever and decides to run after her. But is he too late?
